Thumb not so green? Create beautiful and delicate flowers with wool roving, wire, and felting needles! From daffodils to lilac to orchids, join us throughout the year as we grow our skills in advanced felting techniques. Make seasonally inspired felted flowers using techniques for creating single, double, and triple blooms. The final flora can be used as decoration or to fashion your own unique accessories. Students are encouraged to have taken the Get Started: Needle Felting class or to have prior experience working with needling felting. Material fee is $20, payable to instructor at the time of class.

Instructor Bio:
Kaylyn Gerenz is an educator and artist in St. Paul, MN who started needle felting over a decade ago. She uses fiber as a main element in her professional artwork to communicate the urgency to document memories and history, and continues to explore the idea of flesh and fabric as evocative containers. She recently received her MFA in sculpture from the University of Wisconsin- Madison, where she taught a visual culture course for two years. kaylyngerenz.com

Make a macramé wall hanging from start to finish! Learn 5 basic macramé knots — larks head, spiral knot, square knot, double half hitch, and berry knot — needed to create macramé works of art. Students will have options when it comes to customizing their wall hanging, like accent color choice and design variations, to make their piece one-of-a-kind. The goal is for students to leave with a completed macramé tapestry, along with the confidence and inspiration to continue making on their own!
Materials fee is $10, payable to instructor at the time of class, and covers all supplies needed for this class.

Instructor Bio:
Haley Harnagel (she/her) is a fiber artist located in the southern suburbs of the Twin Cities. She started her adventure into fiber arts in 2019 with macramé and branched into tapestry weaving in 2020. Haley started teaching macramé and tapestry weaving in 2021 and completed a large-scale community project called Intertwining Stories: A Macro Macramé Project that focused on bringing the community together after the pandemic.

Have you ever wanted to design your own fabric? This introductory, digital surface design workshop is for you! Using Procreate for iPad, learn the fundamentals of creating custom repeatable patterns for printing fabrics on Spoonflower. Explore basic pattern types including toss, damask, and stripe/grid.
First learn how to create a repeat pattern using hand-drawn methods on paper, and then create digital patterns using Procreate software on your iPad. Gain skills for adjusting DPI, color settings, and project size, as well as how to use basic digital software tools including those for erasing, adjusting brush size, and creating layers.
Designing repeat patterns using digital tools opens up a world of possibilities for customizing products on Spoonflower and through drop-shipping services like Redbubble, Society6, and more. Beginners welcome! All participants must have an iPad and download the Procreate software before the start of class.

Instructor Bio:
Chloe Russell Chang (she/her) is a fiber artist whose introduction to the world of textiles began while pursuing her BFA in illustration from MCAD in 2014. She has always been interested in the ways that tactile and illustrated art forms interact. Her recent work has largely featured call and response between illustrated and woven pieces (sisters, not twins), and an ongoing series of repeatable pattern blocks which have been used for personal quilting and handmade clothing explorations. In addition to teaching and making art, Chloe manages the youth and Outreach programs at Textile Center as Education Associate. www.wakeupchloe.com
