Get inspired by your Garage Sale finds and take your sustainable fiber art practice to the next level! Learn to braid a rug using pre-loved textiles from old clothing or linens. Explore rug design ideas and color placement, tips and tricks on preparing textiles to use in rugs, and the braiding technique to create a rug. Practice the braiding technique and start a rug in class, to be finished at home. All levels welcome. To successfully create a rug, participants will need to sit or stand and use both hands in a repetitive motion.

Instructor Bio:
Michelle Brick Nord (she/her) has worked with textiles her entire life, from sewing projects in 4H when she young to a 26-year career in the apparel and accessories field. About 5 years ago, Michelle taught herself to make braided rugs as a creative use for waste fabric from the apparel industry that was headed to landfills. In the past year, she has been sharing her love for the craft and for reusing textiles by teaching classes through her local Buy Nothing group and at Reuse Minnesota.
