We’ll start the day with a behind-the-scenes tour of Faribault Woolen Mill, including the finishing and quality control areas, along with a “meet and greet” with several of the Mill Makers — longtime employees of the mill. You’ll also have time to shop at The Mill Store.
After the tour, we’ll head to downtown Faribault for lunch. Then we’ll make our way to Get Bentz Farm in Northfield, MN, where Theresa and her family raise Icelandic and Icelandic-cross sheep on their beautiful farm overlooking the Cannon River Valley. The farm features a woolen mill — home to Badgerface Fiber — which sources local fibers at fair prices and transforms them into roving, yarn, and rug yarn.
You’ll see lambs born in March, blooming fruit trees, and picturesque pastures perfect for a stroll. Theresa will lead small-group tours, and there will be time to shop in her charming “retro” camper.
Transportation will be provided by bus, departing from and returning to Textile Center.
The tour is limited to 36 participants and will open first to current Textile Center members. Any remaining spots will then open to the public.
Cost: $81 for members | $90 for nonmembers
(Includes admission fees, transportation, driver gratuity, and cold drinks on the bus.)
Tour Host: Karl Reichert, Textile Center Executive Director
