Riley Kleve
One of the trickiest parts of being a fiber artist can be figuring out what to do with scraps created during the making process. Learn how to reinvent scraps of any size into scrappy fabric from professional scrap-accumulator Riley Kleve. Collage scraps of thread and cloth together into new fabric sandwiched between sheets of interfacing that dissolve away in water, then turn it into a functional sheath for a pair of scissors or another tool of a similar size. Bring a bag of scraps, but Riley will also bring plenty of scraps from their practice to share if needed. No experience necessary for this beginner-level class!
A materials fee of $8 is due to the instructor at the start of class and includes a sewing pattern, water soluble interfacing, and backing fabric.

Riley Kleve (they/them) is a textile artist and educator creating collaborative work in community-led settings. Their work in weaving, hand spinning, and embroidery draws from history to create a queerer vision for the future of textiles. Riley is a 2024-2026 resident artisan at North House Folk School and a 2025 recipient of a Creative Individuals grant from the Minnesota State Arts Board.
