Sandra Brick
Shibori is a Japanese resist dyeing technique. In this introductory level class, learn two different methods (Arashi and twisting) while creating two unique silk scarves. Using MX Fiber Reactive dyes, explore immersion dyeing techniques to reveal beautiful geometric patterns and stormy skies. By the end of class, students will be able to define shibori, talk about its history, and apply basic techniques to dye projects. This class is the perfect foundation for future dye classes. Great for beginners! Students will need to purchase TWO all-natural fiber scarves and bring them to the class. We recommend purchasing from the selection in our shop (such as this blank silk scarf), so the scarves are prepared for dyeing.
Materials fee is $15, payable to the instructor at the time of class.
