Candy Kuehn
Let loose with color painted on cotton, rayon, linen, and other cellulose fibers! Gain control with thickened MX Procion dyes so you can confidently paint on fabric. Learn a wide foundation of knowledge including different ways to measure dyes and then add thickener to vary the viscosity of the dyes from watercolor painting to thick paint dyes for stenciling. Experiment with brushes, squeeze bottles, stamps, and pre-made Thermofax stencils and then learn two different ways to set the dye paint on the fabric. Open to all levels, no previous-experience with fabric dyeing required. Wear comfortable shoes and clothing that you don’t mind getting dirty! Materials fee $40, payable to the instructor at the time of class.

Instructor Bio:
Candy Kuehn creates wearable art, costumes, wall pieces, and sculptures in numerous media. Her art pieces are functional, reversible, and have multiple uses that sometimes change with the passage of time. Many works live as well on the wall as they do on the body, on the ceiling, on the floor, and on the stage. Kuehn has been an instructor and artist involved with Textile Center for over twenty years and is fondly referred to as “the dye lab midwife”, inspiring new creative life in fiber artists. www.candykuehnstudio.com

Withdrawal Policy
If you need to withdraw from a class, please email Cristin McKnight Sethi, Director of Education, at?cmcknightsethi@textilecentermn.org.
If your withdrawal request is received at least 10 business days before the start of your class, you are eligible to (pick one):
1) Receive a tuition refund (minus a $25 processing fee). 2) Transfer your full tuition to another currently listed class (i.e. a class that is listed on the website at the time of your withdrawal request). 3) Convert your full tuition into a tax-deductible donation to Textile Center. We will be happy to provide you with a receipt for your donation if you request one.
If your withdrawal request is received?less than 10 business days before the start of your class, you are eligible to (pick one):
1) Transfer your class spot to another person (i.e. gift your class registration to a friend, neighbor, or family member). You must communicate any transferring of class registration to Cristin McKnight Sethi (cmcknightsethi@textilecentermn.org). Please let Cristin know the name and email address of the person who will be taking your spot in class. 2) Convert your full tuition into a tax-deductible donation to Textile Center. We will be happy to provide you with a receipt for your donation if you request one.
We are unable to provide a refund or make a tuition transfer if your notice of withdrawal is received?less than 10 business days?before the start of your class. This includes in cases of COVID-19, other illnesses, or medical emergencies.
