Karen Weiberg
Blackwork, thought to having originated in Spain, is a counted thread embroidery that typically looks the same on the back and front. And yes, it is done in black thread! There are a wide variety of stitches to explore once you get the basics down, so join us to learn four stitches in this first introductory class. Leave the class with a sampler and a new technique to explore further on your own.
Materials fee $12, payable to instructor at the time of class.

Instructor Bio:
Karen Weiberg began sewing and embroidering at age 7, exploring the textile arts through 4-H. Discovering counted thread embroidery fulfilled the need for her stitches to be exactly the same length. As an instructor, designer, fabric store manager, and yarn shop owner, Weiberg taught and helped customers with every kind of needlework for over 35 years. She continues to enrich her textile discoveries and was fortunate to have an excellent teacher share Fez embroidery during the 2017 Textile Center tour to Morocco. She is a member of Textile Center, our Athena Society, a library volunteer, and a member of the Weavers Guild of Minnesota.
