James Morehouse
Learn one of the earliest forms of surface stitching, the art of Jacobean Crewel embroidery, to create a traditionally inspired design. This embroidery style was developed in the 17th century as a way to create fanciful interpretations of nature using a vast repertoire of stitches, colorful wool, and creative depictions of flora and fauna. In this one night class students will learn 5 of the most basic stitches used in Jacobean Crewel (satin, trellis, stem, couching, and fly stitch) alongside the history of this rich embroidery form. This class is most suitable for beginners.
Materials fee $10, payable to instructor at the time of class.
