IMPORTANT INFORMATION for accepted works:
- Work must be finished at the time of application.
- Only ONE piece per artist-member allowed.
- The piece entered in the application will be the piece that will be exhibited at Textile Center.
- Work must have been completed in 2025 or 2026.
- Piece submitted must be fiber art. The definition of fiber art for the purposes of this exhibition is the following: Fiber art uses textile and fiber arts materials, processes, histories, and traditions in the artistic and creative conception, execution, and resolution of the work. Examples of techniques include, but are not limited to weaving, quilting, knitting, crochet, sewing, dyeing, felting, needle work, lace making, basketry, and beading. Techniques can also include the use of materials such as polymer clay and metal.
- A high resolution photograph of the piece to be exhibited must accompany the application. File format: JPEG only. File dimensions: 1920 pixels or larger, on the longest side. File resolution: 96 ppi/dpi (NEW standard web resolution.) File size: 2 MG maximum. Most iPhones and Smart phones can take photos at this resolution.
- Work must be installation ready, with all hardware provided by member artist. Framed work must have a hanging wire that does not show over the top of the work. If fabric pieces have a hanging sleeve sewn in, the hanging stick, assuming it is not a featured element of the art, should not show beyond the sides or top of the piece. If a hanging wire is used, it must not extend beyond the top of the work. Any work without a hanging device will installed as carefully as possible, by gallery staff.
LIMITATIONS ON WORK:
- Maximum size for 2-D pieces is a total perimeter measurement (drawn as a SQUARE or RECTANGLE with 4- 90 degree corners, surrounding around all sides of the piece) of no more than 144 inches, frame included. This must also include the space necessary between segments of diptychs or other multiple piece works.
- IF YOUR WORK IS TOO BIG, your entry will not be accepted. Please measure your work carefully. (We have found that often measurements are entered incorrectly, so large work will be checked at the time of delivery.)
- 3-D pieces are presented on pedestals or on the floor. The maximum size of H x W x D added together cannot exceed 108″. For example, this is a form that is 36 inches by 36 inches by 36 inches or proportional.
- Garments and wearable art must be life-sized or smaller. We will provide dress forms and mannequins. (We have mannequins and will choose one that fits your work, unless you would like to provide one specifically for your garment.) Otherwise, they will be draped to fit a 2-dimensional surface not to exceed the 144″ square limitation, and they will be hung in front of or on a wall, based on curatorial discretion.
- Heavy suspended works, over 5 pounds, cannot be installed from the ceiling, and may not be accommodated due to safety and access considerations.
- Objects protruding from the wall more than 6 inches may not be accommodated due to safety and access considerations.
Please note, as in the past: All work must be hand-delivered to Textile Center. Any costs of shipping work to or from the exhibition are the responsibility of the artist. Shipped work must arrive by July 17, 2026, and include return postage or a prepaid return shipping label.
