July 7 – August 27, 2016 • Library and Community Galleries
Opening Reception: Thursday, July 14, 6-8 pm
Also on Thursday, July 14 at 6:30 pm: Michel Garcia Lecture
$15 for Textile Center Members/$20 for non-members.

The concept for Naturally: A Natural Dye Invitational grew out of world-renowned dyer and chemist Michel Garcia’s visit to lecture and teach workshops at Textile Center this July.

It naturally followed that we would want to adorn the gallery walls of Textile Center with this burgeoning art form, an ancient technique currently making a comeback in popularity with renewed interest in handmade and natural processes.

There is an incredible community of natural dyers in our midst and, wanting to showcase this local talent, Textile Center invited 21 local artists to show work in the exhibition.

Whatever fiber or textile art form, Textile Center’s criteria for exhibitions is outstanding craftsmanship, clarity of vision, demonstration of a thorough knowledge of materials and techniques, and works that are innovative and inventive. Our focus is on rich, multi-layered works of art that challenge and evoke ideas, emotions, and sensations expanding the boundaries of convention.
