Minnesota Knitters’ Guild
Connecting knitters and keeping Minnesota warm for 40 years!
Our Mission is to promote interest, appreciation, education and fellowship in the art of knitting.
We organize in person events and meet ups throughout the Twin Cities and greater Minnesota, and build community through monthly Zoom meetings with programming from national designers, authors, teachers and historians.
The Minnesota Knitters’ Guild was formed in 1985 as a knitting group and has grown into a community of over seven-hundred knitters. Our members range in age from pre-teen to well into their golden years. Since our community focuses on the craft of knitting and sharing knowledge our members have knitting abilities that span the entire spectrum from beginner to master knitter.
The Guild hosts a weekend long knitting convention called Yarnover. This is an opportunity for knitters to come together, share their craft, and learn from national knit designers and teachers. There is a full marketplace with vendors that range from local indie dyers and farmers who produce high quality yarn from unique breeds of sheep. Many local yarn stores also participate to connect further with the knitting community. The weekend is open to the entire Midwest knitting community and marketplace attendance is free.
Membership is open to all who are interested in the purpose of the Guild, no matter their age, race, ethnicity, citizenship status, socioeconomic status, religion, gender identity, or political persuasion.
The Minnesota Knitters’ Guild welcomes knitters of all ages and skill levels.

Service Projects
Along with education and fellowship, service has always been part of the Guild’s mission and ethos. Every year, the Guild partners with community organizations that help distribute handknits that members make and donate. Since 2023 alone, Guild members have donated over 2,000 items, from hats and mittens to baby clothes, shawls, blankets, socks, slippers, chemo caps, toys, and more.
The Guild has been fortunate to partner with groups across Minnesota and nationally, including hospitals, hospices, international relief and refugee support associations, schools, senior and community centers, and organizations serving children and youth.
