Minneapolis Modern Quilt Guild

The Minneapolis Modern Quilt Guild (MMQG) was started as a small group of quilters meeting in the basement of a closed sewing shop, as a place to get together and share techniques and stories. Over the years, the guild grew into a group of over 100+ members who sewed together at local meetups. The guild meets primarily online now, thanks to the power of Zoom. A large boom in membership happened during the Covid-19 pandemic as our online format made it possible for quilters outside of Minneapolis (and Minnesota) to join the guild. This brought in new members from all over the United States and internationally. At one time, our guild membership reached over 200+ !

MMQG prides itself on the speakers it brings in to present and talk to members each month, and on the fellowship created within the guild through members’ work and get togethers. The guild hosts two virtual retreats a year, monthly virtual sew-ins, and monthly in-person meetups at the local libraries. A Zoom room, Phone a Quilty Friend, is open at any time for folks to use and chat with anyone else who wants to join and sew with them allows for additional engagement. It has become one of the most popular initiatives the guild offers.

MMQG strives to be an inclusive, fun, and friendly place for all. If you are interested in joining the Minneapolis Modern Quilt Guild, please visit our website:
