Trunk Show with Social Fabric Research

When

Monday, June 22Saturday, June 27

Where

Textile Center

This week, Social Fabric Research will be in the Textile Center Gallery Shop with local fibers, yarns, and handcrafted everyday items.

Their work encourages and embodies sustainable community, soil-to-soil production, consumption, and composting in our local landscape. They work predominantly with wools, dyes, and fibers grown in the Three Rivers Fibershed while restoring healthy ecological relationships with the land. Their goal is restorative land and resource stewardship, including carbon negative textiles that work for rugged and fun outdoor adventures.

Their latest work ruminates on the magic of bodies healing in the midst of psychological and physical trauma, of natural textures and soundscapes of the Mississippi River and Boundary Waters Wilderness Area in the healing process. This praxis uplifts four basic fabric principles: Color | Antiracism and anti-oppression work, Texture | Geographically based, Structure | Practical implementation and land stewardship, and Twist | Prepared for complexity with flexibility.

Shop local fibers, yarns, and handcrafted everyday items from June 22-27, with artist-in-person on June 27.

Textile Center is open:

Tuesday – Thursday, 10 am – 7 pm
Friday + Saturday, 10 am – 4 pm
