Join fellow basket weavers and basketry enthusiasts for an Open Weave and optional Small Reed Basket Class with Gail Mollner. This is a chance for the basketry community to gather together and welcome National Artist Advisory Council Member Pat Hickman to Textile Center.
Bring yourself and your current basketry project to work on while meeting with Pat and other basket weavers in the Basket Weaving at Textile Center Special Interest Group. New to basket weaving? Don’t have a current basketry project? No problem! Teaching Artist extraordinaire Gail Mollner will show you how to make a small reed basket using supplies provided by Textile Center.
This event is free and open to all members of the Basket Weaving at Textile Center Special Interest Group (to learn more about this group and join, please visit the BWTC webpage). Space is limited; Registration required.
Instructor Bio:
Gail Mollner (she/her) got bit by the basket weaving bug in 2018 when she took a willow basketry class taught by Jo Campbell Amsler. Since then, she has explored a variety of other materials for basket making, such as birch, cedar, pine needle and paper. Paper has been the latest obsession after discovering the art of Annetta Kraayeveld, Jackie Abrams, and Dorothy McGuinness. She continues to explore weaving materials and techniques by attending local and national basketry classes and retreats. She is a member of the Textile Center, the National Basketry Organization, and several basket weaving guilds.
