In September 2023, Textile Center was honored to welcome artist and author Tish Murphy for a discussion about her new book, Hooking Faces (Ampry Publishing, June 2023). 

This engaging and information-filled guide to rug hooking portraits covers how to observe the subject in an analytical way, as well as time-tested fundamental principles that explain the process in detail. Hooking Faces is a book for everyone who wants to experience the great satisfaction of hooking a portrait.

Artist Bio:

Tish Murphy (she/her) has been rug hooking since the early 1980s and brings to her craft a lifetime of creating, grounded in her fine art and art history background.  She made her mark in the rug hooking world through her skill at hooking faces and ability to teach her techniques to others.
