Art Speaks: Finding the Perfect Fit with Lynda Maynard
In April 2024, Lynda Maynard discussed the venerable world of clothing construction and pattern drafting, in advance of her upcoming workshops at Textile Center: Fitting Pants (May 8-10) and Pant Construction Techniques (May 11).
In an era when fast fashion overwhelms the global production of clothing, Lynda’s perspective on the value of taking time to perfect fit and sew it yourself–for yourself–is a much-needed, clarion voice for the value of slow, bespoke fashion. Lynda shared her experience of working for over 25 years with fashion design and offered insight into the value of learning couture sewing techniques, fitting, and pattern drafting.
