Cross-stitch embroidery on gingham fabric is known by many names, including Depression Lace, Amish Embroidery, and Hen Tracks, among others. It was an economical way to dress up inexpensive fabric. In this class, students will learn two motifs gleaned from Grandma’s closet: a simple band from an old pillowcase, and a charming blossom from a vintage apron. Participants will also explore the evolution of the technique, as described in women’s publications over the past 150 years.

Materials fee $10, payable to instructor at the time of class, will include all supplies needed for the in-class work.
