Book Reading + Signing: “Patchwork Memories” by Monica Rojas

Join us in welcoming local author Monica Rojas to Textile Center for a special reading and signing of her newly published children’s book, “Patchwork Memories.” This bilingual picture book tells a story about how quilts can hold and carry family memories, and the love and shared experiences that bring families together, even in the hardest of times. Learn more about the book here. 4:30 – 5 pm  Book reading

5 – 6 pm  Book signing, Make a “quilted” bookmark activity for kids

 

Books will be available for purchase. All ages welcome. Book Interest Level: Kindergarten – Grade 3.

About the author:

 Monica Rojas is a bilingual queer Chilean-American who engages communities through writing and artistic practices with magical realism, joy, and play. Her picture books include “Nana and Abuela“ and “Patchwork Memories.” She is also a member of The Society of Children’s Book Writers and Illustrators (SCBWI) and has created many interactive art installations, performances, and workshops. She lives with her wife, niece, and nephew in Minneapolis, MN where she befriend local librarians, mends clothes, and stoop sits.
