Riley Kleve
Curious about making clothing but don’t know where to start? Gathered all of the materials for a project but gave up hope somewhere before the finish line? In this class, students will learn about garment construction the intuitive way: by taking clothing apart to make alterations before putting it back together. Instructor Riley Kleve will guide students through how to add or remove fullness, how to create playful new collars, and the secret to replicating store-bought garments without a sewing pattern. Some basic sewing experience is helpful. Bring a sewing machine in good working order.
A $7 materials fee is due to the instructor at the start of class.

Riley Kleve (they/them) is a textile artist and educator creating collaborative work in community-led settings. Their work in weaving, hand spinning, and embroidery draws from history to create a queerer vision for the future of textiles. Riley is a 2024-2026 resident artisan at North House Folk School and a 2025 recipient of a Creative Individuals grant from the Minnesota State Arts Board.
