Everything from subtle abstract patterns to pictorial pieces is possible with just a handful of artfully placed threads! Using the basic running stitch to act as a resist for dyes, create surface patterns on fabric with just a needle, thread, and dye. This is shibori that can be stitched “on the go” at a meeting, riding in a car, visiting with family, or getting cozy on the couch. Review three different stitched shibori techniques and discuss basic immersion and batch dyeing practices. A simple batching method using premixed dyes will add color to your textiles, bringing life to your stitched patterns.
Materials fee is $25, payable to the instructor at the time of class.
