Free Mindful Stitching + Mending Drop-In

When

Thursday, January 1
11:00am - 3:00pm

Where

Textile Center
3000 University Avenue Southeast
Minneapolis, MN
Map & Directions

Stitch. Connect. Breathe. Mend. Slow down with mindful stitching — taking care of yourself and your mental health so you can show up for others.

Repetitive creative motions activate the parasympathetic nervous system, the body’s natural relaxation response. Calm the mind and find comfort through simple, repeated stitches, or use the language of stitch to process and express feelings through color, texture, shape, and form.

Whether you create something to wear, share, or simply to be there, all are welcome to join us for this FREE event. Get to know your neighbors, and find peace, grounding, and connection. The event will take place in our classrooms, which are private spaces.

Supplies will be provided for anyone who needs them. Feel free to bring in your own materials you wish to incorporate or share. You are also welcome to bring your own project to work on if you’d simply like to create in community.

Beginners and experienced crafters are all welcome to attend. Textile Center will provide instructional hand-outs and guidance from Textile Center’s teaching artists and staff available

Other ways to engage + create with us:
  • Create a fiber pollinator for our community project, the Fiber Pollinator Garden, during this drop-in time. Be part of the magic of a collective art piece.
  • Textile Center is also a drop-off location for new or gently used hats, scarves, and mittens for Hats & Mittens, an organization that distributes items to 200+ local schools and nonprofits. Knitted and crocheted items welcome!
