Explore your sense of play while you learn basic 3-D patternmaking skills and get sustainable with your creative practice by upcycling your favorite fabric scraps into a unique playful creature! Different styles of patternmaking will be covered in this workshop, along with presentations of contemporary artists working with stuffed forms and upcycled materials. Discover how color, pattern, and texture interfaces with form, improvisational sewing skills, and found fabrics and materials. Basic sewing skills are necessary, and a sewing machine is required for this class. Please bring your own machine, in good working condition. You must have the ability to operate it independently, as this is not a learn-to-sew class. Open to students ages 12 years and up if accompanied by an adult caregiver.
