Do you feel comfortable with the basics of hand stitching and foundational needleworking? Are you ready to level-up your embroidery skills? This class is for you! Learn more complex stitches — such as spider stitch, rosettes, blanket stitch, ceylon stitch, and woven stitch — as well as strategies for creative visible mending in a fun and supportive class environment. Appropriate for students who feel comfortable with choosing fabric, separating floss, threading a needle, utilizing a hoop, and a few embroidery stitches. Need a refresher on the basics? Join our Get Started: Embroidery class on Tuesday, August 5, from 6 – 8 pm.
Materials fee of $5 is due upon the start of class and includes all materials needed for class work.
Instructor Bio:
Whitney Dirks (she/her) is a self-taught magpie who is drawn to bright colors and old things. She has been working with textiles since 2020, embroidering swears on vintage table linens, salvaging midcentury embroidery to appliqué on clothing, and turning woolen jackets into polychromatic soft sculptures. She has taught embroidery workshops through the Arts Center of Saint Peter and Mankato Area Public Schools.
