Peg Deppe

Explore medieval iconography as we stitch a whimsical beastie from the Bayeux tapestry. Learn about the Bayeux tapestry and its role in recording the events of the Battle of Hastings, 1066. Then, create a beast of your own using stem stitch, and couched and laid work – where long float yarns are secured to the ground fabric with a series of additional stitches. Take your piece home to create a needle book, pincushion, gift bag, or other small memento! Suitable for beginners or those who’ve never tried topside couching.

Materials fee $20, payable to instructor at the time of class.
