Wondering if Sashiko is for you? This project-based class is perfect for beginners! Sashiko is a form of linear Japanese embroidery using small basic running stitches to create a patterned background. Working with a kit containing authentic sashiko thread, needle, and pre-designed fabric, you will test out sashiko stitches, learn about the history of the technique, and come away with a hand-stitched coaster. Please come to class with the Chevron and Wave Sashiko coaster kit – available for purchase in Textile Center’s shop. (Members save 10% on the coaster kits!)
