Colleen Kahn
From Givency to Rick Owens to Zara—capes are back in style as the outerwear choice for the fashion set (think Billy Porter’s fabulous, embroidered cape for the 2019 Golden Globes, designed by Randi Rahm). Create your own fashionable winter cape to express yourself this season. Whether you prefer a practical wool cape to drape over your parka or a silky cape to accessorize a holiday party outfit, learn to work with an existing pattern to create a cape style that is as unique as you are. Learn how to add personality to your cape with hoods, collars, and a variety of closures. Open to beginning sewists who feel comfortable using their sewing machines or who have already taken Sewing For the Terrified.
