Keep weaving fresh and contemporary with this beginner-level, two-part digital workshop where you will develop on basic weaving techniques to create your own collaged, sculptural woven artwork. The use of non-traditional handlooms and handweaving techniques will be examined, including but not limited to plain weave, twill, and embroidery. Students will be assembling their own looms to learn about what it means to construct, deconstruct, and reconstruct weavings to communicate form, balance, and meaning. Basic weaving experience a plus. Students are responsible for their own materials for this class. Instructor Bio:
Alonzo Pantoja received their MFA in Fine Arts and Visual Studies with an emphasis in fiber and installation from Minneapolis College of Art and Design (MCAD) and their BFA in Painting and Drawing from University of Wisconsin – Milwaukee. Having recently completed a residency at Ox Bow School of Art, their weaving and installation-based work has been exhibited in numerous exhibitions and featured in Hyperallergic and Design and Living magazine. Currently they are on staff at the Walker Art Center and a Continuing Education Instructor at MCAD, where they teach Weaving: A Sculptural Form. alonzopantoja.com

Withdrawal Policy for Digital Workshops
Due to the nature of digital access to the classes and distribution of supplies, refunds will not be processed if you cancel your registration in less than 7 days before the start of class.
If your notice of withdrawal or tuition transfer is received at least 7 days before the start of your workshop, you will receive a refund of your workshop payment, minus a $25 processing fee.
