Are you looking for ways to make your wardrobe more environmentally sustainable? Learn techniques to revamp your old, ill-fitting, or stained t-shirts using color-blocking and appliqué techniques. Discuss environmental impacts of fast fashion, and explore strategies for upcycling clothing to help create a more sustainable future. Bring your sewing machine, in good working condition, and $10 materials fee payable to instructor at the time of class. Basic sewing experience encouraged. Beginners are welcome!

Instructor Bio:
Laura Wennstrom holds an MFA in New Media from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. Prior to this, she received her undergraduate degree in Studio Art from North Park University in Chicago. As an artist who work in a multi-media and textile-based practice, she has participated in numerous solo and group exhibitions across the country. Wennstrom has taught children and adults for the past 10 years as an instructor at Bethel University, Parkland College, Minneapolis Institute of Arts, and the East Side Arts Council. She is a 2021 McKnight Fellowships for Fiber Artists finalist and currently works in her Minneapolis studio. laurawennstrom.com
