Join us for a fun and experimental workshop exploring surface design techniques! Learn four distinct surface design techniques to transform a range of fiber-based surfaces into unique works of art. Learn how to use paints, inks, dyes, and other embellishments to add custom images, prints, and shapes to fabric. Explore relief printing, and see how to create crisp custom patterns. Try your hand at screen-printing, stenciling, and collagraph techniques to add dimension to your existing designs. Explore a range of mark making options and see where your creativity leads you! Beginners welcome. Materials fee $15, payable to the instructor at the time of class.

Instructor Bio:
Leah Parkhurst (she/her) is a surface designer, art historian and educator with a creative approach. No matter the technique, location or classroom, her educational philosophy remains the same – offer students the tools to develop their own voice in both art and beyond. When not making her own work or teaching as a creative instructor, Leah can be found cycling, cleaning a sewing machine or thrifting. She earned her master’s degree in Business Design and Arts Leadership from Savannah College of Art and Design. leahparkhurst.com
