Intro to Shibori: Scarves Three Ways • November 14

Shibori is a Japanese resist dyeing technique. In this introductory level class, learn three different methods (Arashi, clamping, and twisting) while creating three unique silk scarves. Using MX Fiber Reactive dyes, explore both immersion and vat dyeing techniques to reveal beautiful geometric patterns and stormy skies. By the end of class, students will be able to define shibori, talk about its history, and apply basic techniques to dye projects. This class is the perfect foundation for future dye classes. Sandra Brick is an experienced trainer, coach, and educator with over 21 years of experience with the Textile Center both as an instructor and former Board member. She has designed and developed 35+ workshops and courses in a diverse range of workshop topics such as fabric dyeing, design theory, beading, creative problem solving, and technology workshops for artists.
