Kathleen Richert has been involved in the Twin Cities’ textile scene for 25 years. Primarily a garment maker, her background includes teaching skills in surface design and dyeing, pattern drafting, garment construction, tailoring, and the imaginative use of materials. Her textile art is equally varied, from party dresses made of Mylar snack food packaging and Coca Cola cans, to millinery work, to lace-like ‘drawings’ using the sewing machine. Richert also specializes in the production of museum-quality, historically accurate clothing, fabrication of soft props, and costume work for theater and dance productions including Circus Juventas.
