We tend to think of quilts as flat, 2-D objects, destined for the bed or the wall, but the quilt is inherently structural, with connections to the body, architecture and social space. This workshop will begin with an overview of reverse patterning techniques for soft sculpture piecework, and then introduce methods of using channels and embedded armatures to create three-dimensional quilted forms.
