Learn how to add elegant and clean lines to your handwork with this Japanese embroidery technique. Traditionally, these running stitches were used to decorate and reinforce worn fabric. Using simple designs, you can make your fabric distinct with lively contrast. Explore the history of the technique, the basic stitch, best practices, and experiment with different types of thread, fabric, and backing materials. Students will work from a traditional printed Sashiko pattern and use authentic Sashiko thread, needles, and thimble. Materials fee of $25, payable to the instructor. **See supply list of items to bring to class**
