Fridays, March 8, 22, and April 5, 12 – 4 pm

3 week class

Katie DeCosse

Have a bit of rug hooking experience and want the chance to learn the ins-and-outs and improve on your traditional rug hooking skills? Join us for this multi-session workshop where you will design, hook, and bind your very own small rug. Students will also have the opportunity to use a number of tools familiar to all rug hookers–different stands, hooks, cutting devices, and frame styles. By the end of the course, you’ll be well on the way to a completed project! Please come to class with a simple design idea that is no larger than 16″ x 16″. The instructor will provide prepared backing and all the wool you will need to finish your project. Prior experience rug hooking is necessary. (Textile Center’s Intro to Traditional Rug Hooking is the perfect starter class. Latch hooking is a different process and is no substitute!)

Materials fee is $30, payable to the instructor at the time of class.

Instructor Bio:

Katie DeCosse is a Textile Center Shop Associate and a fiber fanatic. Since joining the Textile Center, she has added dyeing and traditional rug hooking to her repertoire of fiber skills that includes knitting, crocheting, needlepoint, and sewing. She honed her teaching skills while earning a MA in education and pursuing a career in veterinary. Assisting students in mastering new skills, in particular learning to use the Ellen Erede Wells Dye Lab, and seeing the “light go on” when a student succeeds brings her great satisfaction.     @katie55418
