Get ready to mix it up! Combine two distinct mediums–ceramics and textiles–into two different handmade decorative vessels to create beautiful results. Use air dry clay to make a pinch pot and slab constructed pot. Incorporate textile coiling and weaving techniques into your ceramic vessels to create dynamic new forms. Explore how mixing mediums can lead to exciting artistic results and new ways of thinking about both ceramics and textiles. Great for beginners!

Instructor Bio:

Nicole Thomas (she/they) is an interdisciplinary artist who uses textiles to create sculptural moments and installations. They hold a Bachelor in Fine Arts from the Minneapolis College of Art and Design and continued pursuing teaching through the Professional Development for Teaching Artists Workshop at the Walker Art Center. Throughout their teaching artist career, Thomas has facilitated art activities for K-12 students, adults, families, and participants with sensory processing differences. She was recently an artist in residence at Chautauqua School of Art where she learned about ceramic techniques. nicolethomas.studio

Withdrawal Policy

If you need to withdraw from class and you send a withdrawal request at least 5 business days before the start of your workshop, you may receive a refund (minus a $25 processing fee). Alternatively, you may transfer your full tuition to another currently listed class or convert your full tuition into a tax-deductible donation to Textile Center.

We are unable to provide a refund or make a tuition transfer if your notice of withdrawal is received less than 5 business days before the start of your workshop, except in the case of illness or health risk (please see COVID-19 tuition transfer policy here). In this case, your tuition can be converted to a tax-deductible donation to Textile Center. We will be happy to provide you with a receipt for your donation if you request one.
