Ivonne Yáñez
Explore the art of embroidery by translating landscape imagery and scenes from nature into thread-based artwork. Learn to design and sketch a simple landscape, choosing stitches to create textures, and using color blending techniques to achieve depth. Gain insight into which stitches work best for creating different textures, such as French knots for foliage, long and short stitches for water, and backstitches for creating the outline for trees and mountains. Learn how to use multiple shades of embroidery floss to create a gradient effect, adding depth and dimension to your landscape. Finally, learn how to finish and secure your embroidered landscape, preparing it for display or framing. This class is open to confident beginners (and above) who have basic hand-sewing skills (e.g. know how to thread a needle and create simple stitches like running stitches). Familiarity with embroidery tools (hoop, needle, embroidery floss) is helpful but not required.
