Suitable for all basket makers, hand-construction artists, sculptors, weavers, including new-comers, there is no prior basket weaving experience required to join us for this introductory level class. You will get to create and take home your very own 8″ by 4″ basket that you can use for bread, fruit, various treasures, a gift basket (if you dare part with it!), or for any other function or non-function that suits you! A bonus kit to create a second basket will be included with materials provided by the material fee. Materials fee $15, payable to the instructor at class. **See supply list of items you need to bring with you to class**

Instructor Bio:
Debbie Johnson’s greatest passion is passing on the tradition of basket weaving through teaching. She was a founding member of the North Shore Basket Guild (Duluth, MN) in 1999 and began teaching in 2002. Johnson continues to hone her skills, exploring natural weaving materials and participating in conference workshops. She is currently president of the Minnesota Basket Weavers Guild and served as co-curator of their 20th Anniversary exhibition at Textile Center in 2018. As a long time member of the National Basketry Organization, she received a scholarship in 2019 to study with Leon Niehaus at their conference.
