Jules Niemi
ShopBorn and raised in northern Sweden, Jules moved to Minneapolis in 2015. She studied fine arts and textile design at a folk school in south western Sweden, primarily focusing on pattern design and printing. Since moving to the US, Jules has opened up a studio in the Casket Arts Building in Northeast Minneapolis which works as both private working studio and open-to-the-public classroom for her various workshops. Primarily working in rug tufting, visible mending, embroidery, weaving and printing, Jules specializes in creating modern pieces, often inspired by classic folk art and textile tradition. Jules is on a never-ending quest of discovering and deconstructing techniques passed down from generations of women from around the world. She takes pride in highlighting and continuing the incredibly complex work women have been doing for thousands of years. With her never-ending love affair with all things fiber, she hopes to inspire and teach others about the diversity of textile craft!
