Intro to Photoshop – Digital Class • January 19 and 21
Adult, Adult Classes, Digital Classes, Featured Class
Tuesday, January 19 & Thursday, January 21
1 – 3:30 pm CST
Are you a textile lover or creator interested in finding out what digital illustration and design tools can add to your toolbox? Have you heard of Photoshop, but never tried it for yourself?
Join our online introductory class and get to know the amazing world of Photoshop in this hands-on experience! This introductory class will give you a basic set of tools and an idea of how it feels to use Photoshop as a digital tool for creative ends. Explore the basic principles of illustration and image manipulation in Photoshop, and learn to use drawing and painting tools, how to create a collage, and even how to design a simple repeating pattern. By the end of the class, you will have at least three files containing a drawing, a collage, and a pattern of your own creation that you can print at home or keep playing with on your own.
The Adobe digital design tools are now accessible more than ever, and present a huge variety of ways to produce and manipulate images. Digital and manual creativity do not contradict each other, rather they are complementary approaches–and many textile artists and designers combine manual and digital work in their practices. Digital tools allow us to invent new and unexpected visual languages, as well as to produce precise sketches, variations, and simulations of textile ideas and products, and to just have fun! This class will prepare you for further exploration of digital design through Textile Center’s upcoming 2021 workshops!
