Rose Allen

Do you want to start quilting, but don’t know where to begin? Or maybe you are returning to the technique and need to refresh? This introductory-level class is designed for novice quilters who want to make their first quilt. Through the process of making simple blocks that will become a 12” by 12” tablemat, you will learn about fabric and pattern selection, preparing fabric, basic tools and how to use them, how to select the right thread, use a rotary cutter, and then learn to sew a scant seam (1/4″) to construct your first quilt block! After pressing your block, learn what to do with a finished quilt top. Students must bring a sewing machine, in good working condition, to class–and be able to operate it with basic sewing ability. Materials fee $5, payable to the instructor at the time of class.
