Katie DeCosse

Traditional rug hooking involves pulling a thin strip of wool fabric or yarn up through a background fabric, generally a monk’s cloth or burlap-type fabric. Join us for this beginning level class to learn the basics of the process and of working with wool, while creating a 4″ square sample “mug rug” piece to take home. Come discover the joys of hooking with wool!

Materials fee is $20, payable to the instructor at the time of class, and includes everything you need to complete the project in class or at home.

Instructor Bio:

Katie DeCosse is a former Textile Center Shop Associate, instructor, and a fiber fanatic. Since joining the Textile Center, she has added dyeing and traditional rug hooking to her repertoire of fiber skills that includes knitting, crocheting, needlepoint, and sewing. She honed her teaching skills while earning a MA in education and pursuing a career in veterinary assistance. Assisting students in mastering new skills – in particular learning to use the Ellen Erede Wells Dye Lab – and seeing the “light go on” when a student succeeds bring her great satisfaction.    @katie55418
