Description: In this eight-week course that’s perfect for beginners, explore personal expression through the medium of shibori dyeing. Shibori is a Japanese technique for patterning textiles through folded, tied, and clamped resist methods. Students will learn about the history of shibori, basic techniques of shibori dyeing, and build a sample book of techniques. You will also learn fundamental principles of color and design, and create a finished work of art for the wall using shibori. As a group, the class will exhibit finished artwork in Textile Center’s Library Gallery.
Artist Bio: Carole has been dyeing for over 10 years. She enjoys exploring different dyeing techniques that include eco printing, shibori, ice dyeing, and deconstructed screen printing. She is continually excited by the gifts she receives as she unfolds, unbinds or pulls fabric out of dye baths. She is a member of Wearable Arts Midwest and Minnesota Feltmakers Guild, in addition to being a member of the Textile Center for 10 years. Carole has been a Massage Therapist since 1979.
