Learn the art of rug hooking in this 8-week class that’s geared for beginners. From the floor to the wall, hooked rugs are enjoying a renaissance in the contemporary design and textile worlds. Using a range of materials from wool wovens to cotton knits, you will be introduced to the technical skills and tools necessary to master the practice. The class includes an overview of the history of rug hooking and activities include learning about color and design, hooking a small sample rug, how to finish off this rug, and engaging in the design and completion a larger rug for the final project. Students will come together in brainstorming sessions and in critique discussions of each other’s work. A culminating exhibition of finished works will be installed and displayed in the Library Gallery at Textile Center.
Mary Logue was born and raised in Minnesota. She has worked as a textile artist for over twenty years and studied with many well-known rug makers including Mary Anne Wise and Eric Sandberg.
