Add depth and breadth to your embroidery skills in this six-week class! Students begin with a focus on creating a stitch practice through stitch journaling, where each student will choose a format for daily stitching and keep a stitch journal. Emphasis of the class will be on undertaking personal projects that are designed and executed during the class sessions. Students will be exposed to contemporary embroidery and be encouraged to take embroidery beyond traditional decoration and explore new possibilities. This next-level class is not for beginners. Students must be skilled in managing a needle and thread (this includes separating floss, threading needle, beginning and ending thread without a knot), and know at least five basic stitches, with the ability to execute them confidently. Like our beginning Interlace classes, the course will progress in a sequential learning style, with group brainstorming and critique to help students think through ideas, discuss process and resolve work. **See supply list of items to bring to class**

Throughout her life, Susan Leschke has always had some sort of sewing or needlework project going. During her studies at Virginia Commonwealth University, she began to work in embroidery. Process, material, and design influence her, along with the mystery of creating and trusting it will all come together in the end. Leschke teaches classes in surface embroidery, from the basics to more complex stumpwork projects, where meeting and forming relationships with students and watching their skills and ideas grow brings her joy. www.threadsofinspiration.net
