Description: In this 8-week class geared for beginners, participants will explore personal expression through the creative medium of felting. Learn to felt using time honored techniques to create your own non-woven, structured fabrics that combine fibers, fabrics, and surface design. Wet felting, nuno felting, upwolfing, and design skills are taught and refined through this sequence of classes as you explore this immediate and tactile medium. Students will design and felt a personalized project, ranging from a length of fabric to a dimensional sculpture, or even to a wearable piece using multiple felting techniques. Completed projects will be featured in a culminating exhibition in our Library Gallery at Textile Center.
Artist Bio: Robbin Firth is an acclaimed fiber artist and educator. She is known regionally, nationally, and internationally for her original collection of fine felt, dyed wearable, and decorative fiber art. Robbin’s felt art has appeared in numerous publications in the US and abroad. She regularly teaches workshops in felting and dyeing at Textile Center and in her studio at Seasons on St. Croix Gallery in Hudson, Wisconsin. Robbin and her husband Harry Firth, a wood artist, are the wife and husband of the HeartFelt Silks team. HeartFelt Silks Studio includes a retail and teaching space and is located in Hudson, Wisconsin adjacent to Seasons on St. Croix Gallery. They are the inventors of the unique hand-crafted patent pending Palm Washboard felt making tools.

If your notice of withdrawal is received at least 5 business days before the start of your workshop, you will receive a refund of your workshop fee, minus a $25 processing fee.
There is no refund of workshop or processing fees if your notice of withdrawal is received less than 5 business days before the start of your workshop. We will be happy to provide you with a receipt for your donation to Textile Center.
