Leslie Granbeck
In this 8-week class geared for beginners, participants will explore personal expression through the creative medium of felting. Learn to felt using time honored wet-felting techniques to create your own non-woven, structured fabrics that combine wool and other fibers, fabrics, and surface design. A variety of wet felting and nuno felting techniques, along with design possibilities, are taught and refined through this sequence of classes as you explore this immediate and tactile medium. Texture, structure and manipulation of felted surfaces will be a focus. Students will design and felt a personalized project using their new felting skills. Class supplies for samples will be provided by Textile Center. Students will likely need to provide additional supplies for their personal project. The cost for these will be dependent on the scope of the project.

Instructor Bio:
An accomplished feltmaker, beader, and teacher for 20 years, Leslie Granbeck’s talents took a new direction when she discovered the technique of turning wool fibers into beads and jewelry. For Granbeck, feltmaking is magical, allowing her to turn simple wool fibers into beautiful scarves, purses, slippers, and garments. She teaches a variety of feltmaking techniques, and her classes are full of color, creativity, and adventure. (They also include a free workout as feltmaking is a “physical art.”) When not teaching, you’ll find her in the studio working on new fiber and bead project. fiberenvy.net

Withdrawal Policy
If you need to withdraw from class and you send a withdrawal request at least 5 business days before the start of your workshop, you may receive a refund (minus a $25 processing fee). Alternatively, you may transfer your full tuition to another currently listed class or convert your full tuition into a tax-deductible donation to Textile Center.
We are unable to provide a refund or make a tuition transfer if your notice of withdrawal is received less than 5 business days before the start of your workshop, except in the case of illness or health risk (please see COVID-19 tuition transfer policy here). In this case, your tuition can be converted to a tax-deductible donation to Textile Center. We will be happy to provide you with a receipt for your donation if you request one.
