Judy Saye-Willis

Learn to make your own plant-based inks and binders. Gain insights into basic ink making processes using easily sourced local materials including flowers from Textile Center’s A Garden to Dye For. Instructor will bring black walnut husks, buckthorn berries, dried marigolds, and indigo paste for additional inks. Learn how to use natural inks with dip pens, brushes, and a pop can calligraphy pen to create your own original works of art on paper. Participants will take home three 1-ounce bottles of ink, a small bottle of binder, a postcard with an original design and a sample card with several colors of inks.

$30 materials fee, payable to the instructor, at the start of class.
