Beth Dow
Learn all about sewing leather by hand as you make a useful tote bag to hold your knitting or other favorite work on the go. This durable tote is sewn with a traditional 2-needle saddle stitch and made of natural vegetable tanned leather that will develop a lustrous dark honey patina as it lives its life with you. Learn how to decorate the surface, apply hardware, and basic wet molding. This process requires steady hands for sewing, and enough shoulder strength to swing a mallet with medium-firm force. Bring reading glasses if necessary for detailed work. Students may also wish to bring a pen/pencil and notebook. All levels welcome.
Materials fee $125, payable to the instructor at the start of class, covers all materials and use of tools.
