Join artist Pat Pauly for this five-day intensive workshop with improvisational piecing (sewing) as the base for composing contemporary works. Start with building a set—complete with insets, windows, thin lines, breaks, shifts and curves—all the tools of improvisational quilting. Then break apart this set to focus on design and composition, rearranging (with a few added tricks) the parts to become an entirely new piece. Explore creating works in a series, abstract forms in compositions, and allowing the fabric to do the work. Use your unique hand dyed or printed fabric, or commercial prints, as a jumping off point in a design. Perfect for anyone who wants to learn in depth the techniques of improvisational design piecing and strategies for making compelling works of fiber art.  Instructor will bring a select number of her printed fabrics for any student who wishes to purchase additional fabric for their projects.
