Whitney Dirks
Wondering if embroidery is right for you? Learned a few stitches but hungry for more? Join this introductory two-hour workshop to get started on creating a simple project. Every session of Get Started: Embroidery will feature a different pair of stitches to help you build your repertoire, such as split stitch, cross stitch, satin stitch, and French knots. Gain insight into how to choose fabric, stretch fabric in a hoop, separate floss into fewer strands, thread a needle, and transfer patterns to fabric. Learn how to finish an embroidery hoop including soaking fabric to remove stick-and-stitch patterns, re-stretching fabric in the hoop, trimming fabric edges, and gathering the fabric on the back of the hoop. All supplies are provided by Textile Center. This is a beginning level class open to crafters ages 10 years and up.
